Becky & Ben

An Intimate Backyard Dryden Elopement

August 22, 2020

When Becky & Ben first contacted me to photograph their wedding, I was saddened to hear that it was originally to be a big celebration down in Hamilton with family and friends but then everything changed with Covid-19 restrictions so they decided to have a small backyard wedding in Becky's hometown and her parents home here in Dryden. Since they were here, they also wanted to try to incorporate her favourite place which was their family camp at Ghost Lake and also the beach on the other side of the lake. Believe it or not, we pulled it all off before the rain came.

With all but one couple postponing their wedding for the following year, this was my first wedding of the season! We didn't know when the rain was going to begin, but we started the day with an intimate First Look at their camp. We then headed to town for the ceremony at Becky's family's home where the happy couple said "I DO" with only immediate family attending, Ben's brother & sister-in-law via Skype, and most importantly Grandma who wasn't going to be able to make the Hamilton wedding.

When Becky first described her dress to me, she said she bought it for Hamilton and a city wedding, not so much for our neck of the woods, literally. It is an absolutely stunning gown, and I knew it would look amazing with the hydrangeas, white pillars and railing at City Hall, and I was right! I've never seen it look so good! After the ceremony and family pictures were taken, we made our way downtown. Becky & Ben both looked incredible with City Hall as their back drop for their formal photos and as the clouds were starting to roll in, we didn't know how much time we'd have left before the rain started so we packed up and made our way to Ghost Lake beach were we had some fun with more candid photos on the beach and we ended the day on the rock point.

It was such a beautiful day, and within 5 minutes of getting into our vehicles, it started to rain and didn't stop. I would have to say that is perfect timing!

Thank you so much Becky & Ben for having me photograph this chapter of your love story and I wish you both all the happiness in the world!

Love,

Michelle
